Vaginally Administered Lidocaine |
We are developing a vaginally administered lidocaine product as a potential treatment for dysmenorrhea, a common gynecologic disorder characterized by recurrent uterine cramping and pain before and during menses. This painful condition seriously affects 12% of all menstruating women in the U.S. between the ages of 20 and 45. In May 2007, we completed a multi-dose pharmacokinetic study that provided data on blood levels obtained by our lidocaine formulation at three dose levels when used over four days, which we expect will be the final dosing regimen. We initiated a Phase II clinical study with this promising candidate in mid-2007.
